Before using Monderma’s personalised skincare, please read this information carefully.
Monderma’s personalised skincare contains a combination of active pharmaceutical ingredients, excipients, and a base cream. It is prescribed to treat facial acne, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, or rosacea. This medicine is available only after completing an online consultation with a GMC or GPhC registered prescriber and is suitable for adults aged 16 and over.
Each prescription is supplied as a 15g off-white cream in an airtight pump container.
Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients
Each prescription contains up to three of the following active pharmaceutical ingredients, selected to target specific skin concerns:
Adapalene: a retinoid and vitamin A derivative that helps regulate cell turnover on the surface of the skin to improve texture and tone.
Azelaic acid: an anti-inflammatory that limits the production of inflammatory-causing molecules to reduce redness and irritation.
Clindamycin: an antibiotic that fights bacteria on the skin to decrease bumps and swelling.
Ectoine: an antioxidant that increases moisture retention to improve hydration and reduce sensitivity.
Hydroquinone: a skin lightening agent that limits the production of melanin to reduce the appearance of areas of darker skin.
Ivermectin: an antiparasitic agent that decreases the number of Demodex mites to reduce redness and swelling.
Niacinamide: an antioxidant and vitamin B3 that helps protect against free radicals by repairing and strengthening the barrier function of the skin to lock in moisture.
Tranexamic acid: a lysine derivative that inhibits melanocyte activation to reduce the appearance of areas of darker skin.
Tretinoin: a retinoid and vitamin A derivative that regulates the growth of cells on the surface of the skin to improve its texture and tone.
The pump container and box include a dispensing label listing the active pharmaceutical ingredients, strengths, directions for use, and key safety information.
Excipients
Monderma uses the following excipients in some formulas to support stability, absorption, and preservation:
Butylated hydroxytoluene: an antioxidant and preservative that prevents the growth of bacteria, yeast, and mould to support stability.
Citric acid: an antioxidant and preservative used to help regulate pH and maintain the skin’s barrier function.
Sodium metabisulfite: an antioxidant and preservative used to reduce oxidation and minimise discolouration.
Each prescription with tretinoin includes butylated hydroxytoluene. Each prescription containing hydroquinone includes citric acid and sodium metabisulfite.

Take the following precautions when using your prescription:
Monderma’s prescriptions are not known to affect your ability to drive or use machinery.
Always ensure the safe and responsible handling of your prescription:
When not in use, replace the cap securely to reduce exposure to air and prevent oxidation.
Although your prescription is formulated to treat skin conditions, it may cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them.
It is common to notice mild dryness, peeling, redness, or tingling when first starting retinoids. This is part of the retinisation process and shows that your active ingredients are beginning to work. These symptoms may continue for several weeks. If they persist or become uncomfortable, reduce application to ONE to TWO pumps every other night until symptoms improve.
If you start any new medication or if your medical circumstances change, contact us immediately.

If you notice any raised or irregular-shaped lesions or moles, seek advice from a GP, pharmacist, or nurse without delay. Monderma does not diagnose or treat skin cancers.
You can report side effects to the MHRA by completing a Yellow Card at any pharmacy or online.
